No Mascot Required

Back in the 80s, grocery stores seemed to have zero interest in branding. Beer just said "BEER." Block letters, no logo, no guy in a costume trying to convince you it was hand-crafted by mountain monks. Just BEER. And that non-branding brand ruled.

A few decades later I walked past Molly Moon's Ice Cream shop in Seattle and saw a sweatshirt that just said "Ice Cream" on the merch rack. No cursive. No winking cartoon character. I had to have that sweatshirt! I immediately started a mental list of what else deserved the same treatment.

My wife noticed the list. She made it worse. She gifted me a custom sweatshirt that said "Baked Goods," and something in my brain fully unlocked. I needed a "BEERS" shirt. I needed a "MEAT SWEATS" shirt. Nobody else was making these, so I started making them myself. Just for me, and for whichever friends were dumb enough to want in.

That's Snack Pro Tees. No brand strategy, no focus groups, and no mascot. Just a middle-aged guy who thinks 1983 grocery store branding is funnier than most modern marketing, screen printing that feeling onto shirts, and hoping a few strangers on the internet get the joke too.
